As Finns around the world prepare to celebrate 100 years of independence in 2017, it is time to both reflect on and celebrate our identity as a people. Across languages and culture, history and heritage, hometowns and generations, the centennial anniversary marks an exciting occasion for Finns of all backgrounds to gather together.
The theme of our 2017 celebrations is “yhdessä,” or “together.” Events will be hosted throughout Metro Vancouver and the Lower Mainland year-round. We invite our Finnish friends and neighbours of all ages and backgrounds to gather together in this special time.
The festivities are being led by the Finland House Society, along with a committee made up by members of the Vancouver Finlandia Club, Emmaus Church, Kotikirkko, British Columbia Finnish War Veterans Association, and the Honorary Consulate of Finland in Vancouver.
